Biography Barry L. Chase, 53, of Peoria, passed away at 3:36 a.m. on Friday, November 16, 2007 at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria. Barry was born on May 4, 1954 in Peoria, son of Cleo Alan and Carolyn L. (Barry) Chase. He was formerly married to Linda Heineman. He married Karen A. Carnegie on September 14, 1996 at First English Lutheran Church in Peoria. She survives. He is also survived by his mother, Carolyn L. Hayes of Peoria; sons, Michael (Marie) Aldrich of Peoria and Justin Carnegie and his fiancé, Ivy Bannister, of Camp Pendleton, CA; daughter, Maggie Carnegie of Pekin; brothers, Brian (Heather) Chase of Peoria, Bernard Chase of East Peoria and Bennett (Susan) Hayes of Brimfield; and grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Jr., Marcus, Bianca and Alivia Aldrich and Danielle Carnegie. He was preceded in death by his father; step-father, Daniel Hayes; and brother, Skip Chase. Barry was a partner in the family business, Maaco Auto Painting on Brandywine Drive in Peoria. He was formerly employed at Morton Metal Craft. Barry was a United States Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1972 to 1983, and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant. While enlisted, Barry earned several awards and honors. Barry was raised Catholic, attending the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria. He attended St. Mary’s School and graduated junior high school from Blessed Sacrament in Morton. Barry was a 1972 graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria and was active on their Swim Team, setting several school records. Barry loved his dog, Tasha, and enjoyed fishing, camping, hiking, boating, traveling, stargazing and anything to do with nature and wildlife. Barry also enjoyed photography and had several of his photographs of nature published. He liked listening to a diversity of music, but Rock ‘N’ Roll and Country were his favorites. Barry had many friends, but he especially enjoyed his time spent with Mum Li, Kelly Short, Ted Bahl, Glen Cecil, Mary Aitken, and all of the hummingbirds, deer, moose and many other animals in wildlife. He and Karen would host cookouts for family and friends and he would turn in to “Cookie the Cook”. Barry was a fan of the Chicago Bears and collected memorabilia from the U.S. Marine Corps and from Japan. He loved to spend his time in the backyard, in Montana, Minnesota, Alaska and anywhere his grandchildren were. Barry was always himself, regardless of what anyone thought and he knew no strangers. He loved life and anything and everything about it. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his family. He was indescribable. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at the Unity Church of Peoria, with Rev. Linda Foreman officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2007 at Clary Funeral Consultants, 1625 Candletree Drive in Peoria. Interment will be held at Springdale Cemetery in Peoria, with Military Honors provided by the United States Marine Corps. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Wolf Center, 1396 Highway 169, Ely, Minnesota 55731-8129, http://www.wolf.org. |
